Understanding Smart Home Heating Systems
Overview
Smart devices, also known as the Internet of Things (IoT), are becoming increasingly commonplace. This course outlines the features of a smart home heating system and includes technical detail of installation. In this course, you will consider the benefits of monitoring and controlling your heating from any device with an internet connection.
The purpose of this programme is to explore and learn how a remote system can help to save energy costs, by allowing users to adjust temperatures and scheduling their routine for when they are away. We examine options such as geo-fencing, which takes into account seasons and weather conditions in order to adjust temperatures accordingly.
You will also look at the types of sensors and controls available for a smart home heating system, such as occupancy detection and motion sensors. Customizable features like voice control are covered too, providing users with an easy way to interact with their home heating.
Learners who complete the programme are awarded a digital credential from City & Guilds, which states that they can understand sustainable development, clean energy and how to carry out a carbon footprint.
