Access to University

If you want to study for a university-level course but don’t have the necessary qualifications, then our access to university courses would benefit you. Access to University courses lead to a Level 3 Access to HE Diploma and are designed specifically for adults returning to education, helping you unlock the door to a new career.

Access to University courses

Why choose an Access to University course at West Notts?

Feel fully-supported

Access to University students are fully supported throughout their time at college making the transition to full-time education as easy as possible. Students will learn new skills in a relaxed and informal environment and at a pace to suit them. The course also allows people of all ages and backgrounds to work together, so they’ll make new friends along the way.

Make use of our facilities

Access to University students study at our Derby Road campus and can make use of our state-of-the-art facilities and resources they need to complete their course. Students study in spacious classrooms, use the PCs to work outside study hours, and get all the information they need from the LRC.

Stay on and study university-level at college

Once students have completed an Access to HE course, they will have the opportunity to stay on at college to study Higher Education, which means they won’t have to move away from any family or work commitments.

These courses are eligible for an Advanced learning loan

The Advanced Learning Loan is a new scheme introduced by the government to help mature learners study for qualifications that will improve their employability and develop high level skills and knowledge.

Loans are specifically designed for those aged 19 and over, who are intending to study on a Level 3 or higher course – including Access to HE diplomas.

Best of all, if you successfully go on to complete an HE qualification following an Access to University course – you won’t even have to pay the loan back.

It’s easy to apply! To find out if you’re eligible, or for more information, see the Advanced Learning Loan page.

We've already received over 4,000 applications for September 2020. Apply now.
