Teachers with industry know-how

Our teachers have plenty of industry experience and are keen to pass on their tips and techniques of the trade to young hopefuls. You are taught under the watchful eye of industry experts who have been there and done it.

Showcase your skills

Once skilled-up, you’ll be keen to show off your talents. So you will have the opportunity to showcase your skills at local, regional and national competitions.

Be part of the 'Learning Company'

You’ll work with students across different curriculum areas to help with the renovation and improvement of college buildings.

There are several projects such as the refurbishment of the Thoresby Road site or creating a gigantic rooftop Christmas tree at Derby Road campus. Because the college is constantly expanding and improving, there are always plenty of projects to get stuck into, and a wealth of different opportunities to see the construction industry in action.

Under the watchful eye of experienced teachers, you’ll get to help with wiring, plumbing, plastering and more, while contributing to the ongoing improvement of your own college, while upskilling yourself beyond the classroom.

Our the years, we have continued to heavily invest in our impressive construction centre; providing dedicated practical and interactive learning spaces for each trade.

In our open-plan brickwork and carpentry and joinery areas, students have the freedom to master their skills in their own dedicated zones. With access to a wide range of tools and materials, you will have everything you need.

Our electrical and plumbing facilities are also set up to recreate reallife situations and provide access to different appliances, tools and materials which you will work with in the future.
