Tourism with events management and aviation

Why choose tourism with events management and aviation at West Notts?
Take part in trips
You'll have the opportunity to take part in UK and overseas residential visits. Past trips have included visits to major UK cities, and further afield including Cyprus, Lanzarote, New York and The Gambia.
The trip to The Gambia in 2020 was described as ‘life-changing’ by many students as they got to see so much of a different culture as well as learning about responsible tourism in this part of Africa. They were able to sample the wonderful food and traditional outfits at the Cooking with Ida experience, meet children in the local schools and go on a wildlife canoe ride up the River Gambia.
Student Jessica Darwood-Brown captured some amazing footage of this visit.

Be part of the 'Learning Company'
As a West Notts student, you’ll have the opportunity to work with Mansfield Townscapes in part of their rejuvenation project by helping them to develop a heritage trail of the local area.
See Mansfield as you’ve never seen it before by becoming a real-life tour guide! You’ll have the opportunity to explore the rich and diverse history of this ancient market town. Discover how the town has grown and changed over the years, and introduce your audience to some of the gruesome local legends, like the mysterious disappearance of “Old Jack” in 1878 or the “Mansfield Massacre” of 1895.
Year two students will have the opportunity to take part in our travel consultancy learning company as part of their Special Interest Unit.
Take on the role of travel agent, booking real holidays and weekend breaks for staff members at West Nottinghamshire College! When clients come in, you’ll need to listen to what they want and dazzle them with suggestions for exotic getaways in the UK and abroad! Develop your industry knowledge and your customer service skills at the same time. Answer complex enquiries, offer recommendations based on your own expert knowledge, do speedy and effective research, manage budgets, and hone your front-of-house skills, all while getting a feel for what it’s really like to work in the travel industry.
