Advanced Diploma in Fashion, Commercial and Media Make Up Studies (Advanced) - Level 3

Overview

This qualification has been specifically designed for under 19s and builds on existing knowledge and understanding of make-up artistry gained at Level 2, enabling you to expand the scope of your technical skills to prepare you for employment as a make-up artist.

The content of this qualification is comprised of all the required elements to work effectively as a make-up artist.

You will also have the opportunity to undertake a wide range of optional units to enhance your practical skills in both hair and make-up application/beauty techniques.

What will I study?

  • Airbrush make-up for the face
  • Camouflage, fashion, media and photographic make-up
  • Self-tanning
  • Individual permanent lashes
  • Bridal, fashion, catwalk and fantasy make-up.

Entry requirements

  • This course is only available to 16-18 year olds.
  • Level 2 in make-up artistry, plus a grade 4 in English and maths.

Study programmes - essential skills for employment

As an entry requirement on some of our courses, you will need a GCSE in both English and maths with at least a grade 4/C (please see entry requirements above).

If this isn’t displayed under the entry requirements and you don’t currently have a GCSE in both English and maths at grade 4/C or above before joining us, you will then study English and maths as part of your programme with the aim of achieving a qualification with at least a grade 4/C. This is to help improve your chances of employment once you leave us.

In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, all students aged 19 and under and studying a full-time course with us will take part in our study programmes.

How long is the course?

1 year.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed by an ongoing theory and practical assessment that will be carried out on peers and clients.

You will collate and present an evidence portfolio and also be assessed through exams set by the awarding body.

What can I progress onto?

  • University-level study
  • An apprenticeship.
