Diploma in Beauty Therapy (VRQ) - Level 2

Overview

The VRQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy is the perfect course for those who have a passion for beauty therapy and treatments and want to begin a career as a beauty therapist.

You won’t need any prior beauty therapy skills or training, but a real desire for learning. You will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care and cosmetic beauty products and equipment.

You will also develop a range of technical skills to enable you to prepare the skin and apply a variety of skincare, eyelash and brow and make-up products, using different techniques. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.

Units of study include:

  • Health and safety
  • Client care and communication
  • Provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments
  • Provide facial skin care
  • Apply make-up
  • Provide manicure treatments
  • Remove hair using waxing

Entry requirements

This course is only available to 16-18 year olds.

GCSE English language and maths with at least grade 3/D or equivalent or above.  Plus a dexterity test, attendance at a one-day ‘welcome day’ during July and August, or attendance at summer school if a progressing learner.

You will need to supply a written reference from your school/college teacher and/or a current school or college report with an indication of your attendance pattern and achievements. This will need to be uploaded to your myVISION account by the end of May.

Study programmes

It is an entry requirement for some courses to have gained GCSEs A*-C in English and maths (see entry requirements). If the entry requirements to a course do not require A*-C in these subjects, and you haven’t already gained GCSEs A*-C in English and maths before joining us, you will continue to study English and maths as part of your programme and take appropriate qualifications in these subjects with the aim of achieving A* to C grade. In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, every student aged under 19 and studying a full-time course at college will take part in our study programmes alongside their main subject qualification.
