Advanced Diploma in Fashion, Commercial and Media Make Up Studies - Level 3
Overview
This qualification has been specifically designed for under 19s and builds on existing knowledge and understanding of make-up artistry gained at Level 2, enabling you to expand the scope of your technical skills to prepare you for employment as a make-up artist.
The content of this qualification is comprised of all the required elements to work effectively as a make-up artist including:
- Airbrush make-up for the face
- Camouflage make-up
- Fashion and photographic make-up
- Media make-up.
These units are all mandatory.
You will also have the opportunity to undertake a wide range of optional units to enhance your practical skills in both hair and make-up application/beauty techniques.

Entry requirements
Level 2 in make-up artistry plus a dexterity test, attendance at a one-day ‘welcome day’ during July/August or attendance at summer school if a progressing learner.
You will need to supply a written reference from your school/college teacher and/or a current school or college report with an indication of your attendance pattern and achievements.
This will need to be uploaded to your myVISION account by the end of May.

* If you are aged 19-23 and studying your first Level 3 course then that course may be free. Please contact us for more details. If you are aged 19 or over and either studying a second Level 3 course or qualifying Level 4, 5 or 6 course you may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the costs.
How long is the course?
36 weeks.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by an ongoing theory and practical assessment that will be carried out on peers and clients.
You will collate and present an evidence portfolio and also be assessed through exams set by the awarding body.

Study programmes
It is an entry requirement for some courses to have gained GCSEs A*-C in English and maths (see entry requirements). If the entry requirements to a course do not require A*-C in these subjects, and you haven’t already gained GCSEs A*-C in English and maths before joining us, you will continue to study English and maths as part of your programme and take appropriate qualifications in these subjects with the aim of achieving A* to C grade. In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, every student aged under 19 and studying a full-time course at college will take part in our study programmes alongside their main subject qualification.
