T Level Foundation Programme – Education and Early Years - Level 2

Overview

Are you passionate about working with young children and helping them learn and grow? This course is the perfect stepping stone for anyone interested in pursuing a career in early years education. It will prepare you to progress to the T Level in Education and Early Years - Level 3, which provides a full license to practice within the sector.

You'll spend two days a week on an early years work placemen, where you'll gain practical experience working with children. Alongside this, you'll attend lessons that cover child development, early learning, and the importance of play. Plus, with the added support of GCSE English Language or Maths lessons, you'll have the chance to strengthen your qualifications for progression onto the T Level in Education and Early Years course.

On top of that, you'll learn from expert guest speakers, take part in exciting trips, and be supported by experienced T Level teachers who are dedicated to helping you succeed.

By the end of this course, you’ll be well-prepared to take your next step towards a career in early years education!

What will I study?

Child development

Learn how children grow physically, socially, and emotionally, and understand the stages of development from birth to early years.

Early years curriculum and play

Discover the importance of the national curriculum and how to create fun, engaging environments for children's learning through play.

Children’s health and wellbeing

Explore how to support children's physical and mental health, ensuring their safety and wellbeing in early years settings.

Essential skills for work placement

Develop the key skills needed to succeed in your work placement, including communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

GCSE support and study skills

Boost your GCSE English Language or Maths and learn essential study techniques to help you progress onto the T Level in Education and Early Years course.

Entry requirements

This course is only available to 16-18 year olds.

GCSE English Language, Maths and Science at grade 3-9.

If you are not studying a traditional GCSE programme, we accept alternative qualifications like Functional Skills and vocational courses. If you are not planning on sitting GCSE exams, we can also support you with completing an English Language and Maths assessment. Please contact our admissions team for further details:

Study programmes - essential skills for employment

If you're a student between the ages of 16 and 18 (or 19 to 25 with an EHC Plan) we want to make sure you have the best possible chances of landing an awesome job once you finish college.

Students who haven't achieved a grade 4/C in GCSE maths or English to continue studying these subjects while you're here with us. By doing so, you'll be building a strong foundation of skills that will significantly boost your employability in the future.

Think of it as a chance to supercharge your knowledge and abilities. You'll be equipped with the tools necessary to tackle the world beyond college with confidence. Plus, we'll be right here to support you every step of the way.

In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, all students aged 19 and under and studying a full-time course with us will take part in our study programmes.
