Introduction to the Travel and Tourism Industry - Level 1

Overview

This course consists of a range of core and specialist units that will include customer service, introduction to the travel and tourism sector and sales and promotion.

Entry requirements

GCSE English at least grade 2/E and maths at least grade 1/F, or the Functional Skills equivalent, and two other GCSEs with at least grade 2/E. Good organisational ability and a keen interest in the travel and tourism industry.

You will need to attend an interview with the tutor before being accepted on to the course. You may also need to supply at least one written reference from a teacher or employer (in some cases two) and/or your current school or college report.

Start dates and fees

You will be required to pay for a UK residential visit as part of the course. This course is free to those aged under 19 years.

What does the course lead to?

This qualification can lead to job prospects in the travel and tourism sector.

What will I study?

You will study a range of units including:

  • Displaying travel and tourism products and services
  • The role of the overseas resort representative
  • Planning and participating in an event
  • Planning a trip to a visitor attraction
  • The role of air cabin crew

You will also take part in an exciting UK residential.

Study programmes

It is an entry requirement for some courses to have gained GCSEs A*-C in English and maths (see entry requirements). If the entry requirements to a course do not require A*-C in these subjects, and you haven’t already gained GCSEs A*-C in English and maths before joining us, you will continue to study English and maths as part of your programme and take appropriate qualifications in these subjects with the aim of achieving A* to C grade. In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, every student aged under 19 and studying a full-time course at college will take part in our study programmes alongside their main subject qualification.
