Bursaries
There are two different bursaries available to adult learners aged 19+ to help with education costs. Bursary payments do not have to be repaid.
Please note:
- Bursaries for part-time courses are discretionary – if awarded, the payments will be prorated based on the full award
- You don't need to meet all of the eligibility criteria, if one or more applies to you then you will qualify for the help we can offer
- It may take up to eight weeks to process your bursary application.

19+ Student Support Fund
Eligibility
- Household income below £40,000
- Aged 19 to 24 with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and either the student or parent/carer being in receipt of a qualifying benefit.
Help available
- Attendance related bursary payment of £75 per month (pro rata for part-time)
(1 day = £25p/m) (2 days = £50p/m) (3+ days = £75p/m)
- West Notts College Travel Pass (minimum of studying a course for two or more days per week)
- Childcare funding/Care to Learn
- Support for compulsory kit/uniform
- Free college meals if eligible.
Advanced Learner Loan Bursary Fund
Eligibility
- Received a letter approving your Advanced Learner Loan
- Household income below £40,000
- Aged 19 to 24 with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and either the student or parent/carer being in receipt of a qualifying benefit.
Help available
- Attendance related bursary payment of £75 per month (pro rata for part-time)
(1 day = £25p/m) (2 days = £50p/m) (3+ days = £75p/m)

- Childcare funding/Care to Learn to support learners while you attend your course

Free college meals
If you are aged between 19-24 with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and either the student or parent/carer being in receipt of the qualifying benefit, you are eligible for free college meals.
