Government incentives

As an employer, not only can you get funding to support apprenticeship training, but there are often additional local incentives too.

Recently the Government has changed the incentive payments available to employers when hiring apprentices between 1st April and 30th September 2021.

You will now receive £4,000 for each new apprentice aged 16 – 18, and those aged under 25 with an Education, Health and Care Plan. If the apprenticeship is aged 19+ you will receive £3,000.

In order to qualify for this incentive, you must understand the following criteria:

  • This only applies to apprenticeships recruited within the specified timeframe
  • The apprentice must be a new employee to the business (must not have been employed the employers within 6 months prior to contract start date).

In terms of payments, you should know that:

  • Payments will be inclusive of the existing £1,000 payment the Government already provides for 16–18-year-old apprentices, and those aged under 25 with an Education, Health and Care Plan.
  • Eligibility for payments is reached at two point throughout the year, 50% when the apprentice has been in learning for 90 days and the final 50% at 365 days.
  • There is no limit on the number of incentive payments that can be claimed.
  • You can reserve funding if you register your interest with an apprenticeship provider.

Hiring your apprentice

With the right support, finding the right apprentice for your staff can be simple and stress-free. Before taking the steps to find your perfect learner, you should be aware that as an employer, you must ensure your apprentice will:

  • Work with experienced staff
  • Learn job-specific skills
  • Get time for training and study during their working week (at least 20% of their normal working hours)

Apprenticeships we offer

As a leading apprenticeship provider in Mansfield and Ashfield, we offer four different levels of apprenticeships:

  • Intermediate - equivalent to a level 2 / GCSE qualification in English , maths and IT
  • Advanced - equivalent to a level 3 qualification or two A Level passes
  • Higher - equivalent to a level 4 / foundation degree qualification
  • Degree - equivalent to a level 5/6 qualification or bachelors or masters degree.
