With record-breaking applications in recent years, many construction courses for September 2024 were already full by spring time. Due to an increasing number of school leavers in our local area, the same high demand is expected for September 2025.

This course is specifically designed to provide you with comprehensive training in advanced plastering skills, knowledge, and behaviours. Its primary objective is to equip you with the expertise required to excel in the field of plastering. By completing this course, you will be well-prepared to progress into an apprenticeship or secure full-time employment. This course will empower you to pursue a successful career in plastering and make a valuable contribution to the construction industry.
Throughout the course, we will provide advanced theoretical - what you need to know and practical hands-on sessions, to put into practice what you have learnt, to ensure a well-rounded understanding. Additionally, you'll have the chance to participate in various industry and community-based projects and exciting trips and visits.

What will I study?
- The principles of construction
- Internal plastering and fixing sheet materials
- Applying external plain rendering
- Floor screed systems
- Direct bond, taping and jointing
Entry requirements
- GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 3-9
OR
If you are not studying a traditional GCSE programme, we accept alternative qualifications like Functional Skills and vocational courses. If you are not planning on sitting GCSE exams, we can also support you with completing an English Language and Maths assessment. Please contact our admissions team for further details:
Applicants aged over 19
If you don't meet the listed entry requirements, you may still be accepted with relevant experience, a strong portfolio, and a commitment to the subject.
Study programmes - essential skills for employment
If you’re aged 16-18 (or 19-25 with an EHC Plan), we want to make sure you have the best possible chances of landing an awesome job once you finish college.
Therefore, if you do not have GCSE grade 4-9 in either English Language or Maths, you will study one or both of these courses alongside your full-time study programme. If you do have GCSE grade 4-9 in English Language and Maths then you will not be required to undertake these subjects. By doing so, you'll be building a stronger set of skills that will significantly boost your employability in the future.
