Hairdressing (Adults aged 19+) - Level 3

Overview

This part-time qualification, exclusive to adults aged 19 and over, takes place just one day a week on Fridays. It is based on the national occupational standards for hairdressing and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a senior hairdresser/stylist.

Throughout this qualification, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety. You will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to consult with clients, provide a range of cutting and colouring services as well as set, dress and finish the hair.

In parallel, you will develop your communication and customer service skills, your awareness of environmental sustainability and your commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers.

Problem-solving and research skills will also be developed.

If you are aged 19 or over and either studying a second Level 3 course or qualifying Level 4, 5 or 6 course you may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the costs.

Entry requirements

This course is only available to adults aged 19+

  • GCSE grade 4-9 in English Language and Maths plus completion of a relevant Level 2 course.

Applicants aged 16-18

How long is the course?

One year.

One day per week (Fridays 9.15am-4.30pm)


How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed via a mix of externally set, internally graded practical assessments as well as externally marked exams and externally set, internally graded synoptic assessment.


What can I progress onto?

  • Skilled Employment
  • Higher Level Apprenticeships
  • Higher Education (University).
