CIPD Foundation Certificate in People Practice (On-campus) - Level 3
Overview
As one of the CIPD Approved Centres, West Notts College successfully deliver this Level 3 qualification. Based on the new Profession Map, this qualification focuses on the knowledge and behaviours required to create value and make an impact in the changing world of work. This new qualification sets the standard for people professionals.
There are two options to gaining this CIPD Foundation Certificate within the college to support your learning style, on-campus or blended learning (online and on-campus). Find out more about the blended learning option.

Qualifications we offer at West Notts:
This is a foundation level professional qualification and provides a strong basis to give people professional’s confidence in their capabilities and behaviours. It will teach the fundamental skills and knowledge required to follow a HR or learning and development career.
Who is the qualification suitable for?
The qualification is designed for learners aged 16+ who want to learn about people practice. It is suitable for individuals who are considering a career in HR or working in a support role in People Practice and wanting to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence to be more effective in their role.
Start dates and fees
Evening - Part-time Course - taught face-to-face in the evening, once a week.
The course fee can either be paid in full or in four instalments.
If you wish to pay in instalments, you will be required to pay 25% (£348.75) of the total fee on the day of enrolment and a Direct Debit mandate would then need to be completed to enable the college to collect a further three payments of £348.75 bi-monthly. The payments will be taken on the date you choose on the Direct Debit mandate form.

On top of the course fees, you will be required to join The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). A joining fee and membership fee will be payable.

Entry requirements
- Level 2 qualification in English language and maths
- Completion of an initial face to face or telephone interview to ascertain whether the course is suitable and right for you.
Study programmes - essential skills for employment
If you’re aged 16-18 (or 19-25 with an EHC Plan), we want to make sure you have the best possible chances of landing an awesome job once you finish college.
Therefore, if you do not have GCSE grade 4-9 in either English Language or Maths, you will study one or both of these courses alongside your full-time study programme. If you do have GCSE grade 4-9 in English Language and Maths then you will not be required to undertake these subjects. By doing so, you'll be building a stronger set of skills that will significantly boost your employability in the future.
Think of it as a chance to supercharge your knowledge and abilities. You'll be equipped with the tools necessary to tackle the world beyond college with confidence. Plus, we'll be right here to support you every step of the way.
How long is the course?
1 year.
How will I be assessed?
The course is mainly face to face, with a variety of teaching and assessment methods. There are no exams.
There is a requirement for some independent study and this is supported by a range of resources from our Learning Resource Centre and other platforms such as Moodle and Microsoft Teams.
What does the course lead to?
Level 5 Certificate in Human Resource Management.
What can I progress onto?
Once you have completed the foundation qualification you can progress further to the Associate level qualifications. We currently offer the Diploma in People Management at the Associate level.
