With record-breaking applications in recent years, many courses for September 2024 were already full by spring time. Due to an increasing number of school leavers in our local area, the same high demand is expected for September 2025.

This course is specifically designed to enhance your skills, knowledge, and behaviours in the field of bricklaying. Its primary objective is to equip you with advanced techniques and expertise, empowering you to effectively prepare for your future endeavours, whether it be an apprenticeship or a full-time employment opportunity within the construction trade of your preference.
Throughout the course, we will provide advanced theoretical - what you need to know and practical - hands on sessions, to put into practice what you have learnt, to ensure a well-rounded understanding. Additionally, you'll have the chance to participate in industry and community-based projects and exciting trips and visits.
Our esteemed partnerships with industry employers like Persimmon Homes, Wilmott Dixon, Mansfield District Council, and Bolsover Council will open doors to valuable work-related opportunities. These partnerships ensure that you develop the skills and expertise that employers in the bricklaying industry actively seek.
Located at our state-of-the-art Brick Centre in Sutton-in-Ashfield, you'll have access to exceptional facilities that are among the best in the sector. With practical areas and classrooms in close proximity, you'll have the perfect environment to refine the specialist skills and techniques necessary for your chosen trade, ensuring you're well-prepared for future employment opportunities.

What will I study?
- Interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures
- Producing thin joint masonry and masonry cladding
- Building solid walling, isolated and attached piers
- Construct cavity walling forming masonry structures
Entry requirements
- GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 3-9.
OR
If you are not studying a traditional GCSE programme, we accept alternative qualifications like Functional Skills and vocational courses. If you are not planning on sitting GCSE exams, we can also support you with completing an English Language and Maths assessment. Please contact our admissions team for further details:
Applicants aged over 19
If you don't meet the listed entry requirements, you may still be accepted with relevant experience, a strong portfolio, and a commitment to the subject.
Study programmes - essential skills for employment
If you're a student between the ages of 16 and 18 (or 19 to 25 with an EHC Plan) we want to make sure you have the best possible chances of landing an awesome job once you finish college.
Students who haven't achieved a grade 4/C in GCSE maths or English to continue studying these subjects while you're here with us. By doing so, you'll be building a strong foundation of skills that will significantly boost your employability in the future.
Think of it as a chance to supercharge your knowledge and abilities. You'll be equipped with the tools necessary to tackle the world beyond college with confidence. Plus, we'll be right here to support you every step of the way.
In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, all students aged 19 and under and studying a full-time course with us will take part in our study programmes.
