Background

Derek Dawkins originates from London. He served in the Logistics Branch of the Royal Air Force from 1980 to 2003 and reached the rank of Sergeant. During his career he has served in a number of countries including Northern Ireland, The Falkland Islands, Ascension Island, Iraq, Cyprus, Germany, Australia and America.

Honours and awards

Derek holds the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, Clasp - Northern Ireland, Clasp - Air Ops Iraq, Northern Ireland Medal, Cumulative Campaign Medal, Queen’s Jubilee Medal and Commendation in the Queen’s Birthdays Honours List 1990.

His specialist areas are education and training, leadership and management, project management logistics and military service.

Education

His qualifications include a BSc Open (Open University) BSc Honours Psychology (Open University) MA Education, Leadership and Management (Nottingham Trent University) Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE Nottingham Trent University).

Interests and hobbies

Derek is a keen martial artist and holds Black Belts in Aikido (Shudokan) and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Gracie Barra).
