Biography

Alan Viggers joined the college in 2019 as a public services teacher having studied outdoor education at university. He has worked in industry as a regional training manager as well as over 35 years in teaching, managing and directing the public services curriculum in Further Education. Has also co-ordinated the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award for Nottinghamshire County Council Youth Service and has extensive experience as an outdoor instructor.

His specialist area is outdoor education and expedition skills. He has led numerous expeditions in the UK both summer and winter including mountaineering, cycling, kayaking, canoeing and X adventure. Alan is a qualified fitness instructor and staff development manager.

In his spare time he partakes in cycling, kayaking and mountaineering as well as spending time travelling in his motorhome and with his grandchildren. He is also a keen sports coach having over 20 different sports coaching awards
