Biography
Charlene started her dance training early. At 3 years old she attended her local IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) theatre dance school and studied ballet, tap, modern, theatre craft and street dance. Charlene has spent many years taking part in competitions, festivals and annual dance shows all over the UK.
Charlene later studied performing arts, specialising in dance at Nottingham College and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Theatre Arts: Dance, through Nottingham Trent University.
Charlene is a fully qualified teacher and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). Charlene works in a dual role at college as both dance teacher and as a learning advisor. Charlene’s expert skills in pastoral care and her experience as a personal teacher for performing arts students, enables Charlene to offer additional curriculum support to students across the creative arts area.
As a long standing member of the performing arts team, Charlene has responsibility for the delivery on the dance and musical theatre pathway and also delivers on the acting pathway.
Charlene delivers technique classes and has directed and choreographed many shows including We Will Rock You, Godspell and Chicago and other showcase events set around specific themes.
Alongside her teaching at local dance schools and having her own dance school branches in and around Nottingham, Charlene enjoys performing in amateur theatre performances and has appeared in shows such as Hairspray and Jesus Christ Superstar.
Aside from performing and teaching, Charlene has a strong passion for choreography and has worked side by side with her sister with and renowned company NuProjeks Dance. Charlene’s passion and ambition has inspired many, whether that be through performing, directing, teaching or as a dance judge or mentor.
