Biography

Hi my name is Sam, I am the programme area leader for beauty and make-up artistry.

After graduating from West London University with a specialist make-up artistry degree (BA Hons), I worked as a freelance make-up artist in a variety of different roles, such as theatre shows touring with Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Minchin, Melanie C, and Chris Moyles. I’ve worked on music videos, TV advertising for companies like Cadburys, fashion shows and also studio.

I trained with Liberty of London, and have been a retail make-up artist for Lancôme, Dior and Chanel.

I found that whilst working in the industry, I began teaching fellow make-up artists, and assisting them with how to create looks in both hair and make-up. I started teaching within FE in 2014. I enjoy supporting people to work with their passion in make-up artistry, helping them to become professional and well-rounded for industry.

Studying make-up artistry enables you to enter into a very versatile industry. It is exciting and fast-paced. The course allows you to not only learn new hair and make-up skills, but also how to become a professional, with high standards of hygiene and methodical working practices.

You can progress from Level 2, all the way the degree-level and even a masters!
