Biography
Brian is an experienced Digital Design practitioner with a flair for all things creative. Brian studied a BA (Honours) Degree in Animation at Staffordshire University and holds a Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Sector.
Prior to becoming a teacher Brian worked in industry at Aardman Features (best known for Wallace and Gromit), working within the animation team. He then progressed to working for a range of companies as an animator in television commercials for well-known brands.
Brian coordinates the level 3 programme and delivers on both the level 2 and level 3 media courses. He is a specialist in traditional 2D animation and stop motion animation. Brian’s own artistic skill, enables student’s to develop their traditional drawing and painting skills, which feed in to the wider creative process of storyboarding, concept development and the production of final outcomes.
Brian is skilled within the graphic design field including logo design, packaging, product design and typography. Additionally he is fully competent with an extensive range of software including Photoshop, Illustrator, Animate, After Effects, Premier Pro, Blender and Unreal Engine and continually explores new and emerging software to ensure currency with industry. Brian has facilitated a number of projects and work placements for students with employers including Fuzzy Frog, Trove and Arctic Shores, ensuring students receive regular professional critiques.
With such a diverse skill set, genuine passion for his subject and a many years’ experience in both industry and teaching, Brian is a true asset to the team.
