Biography

Jay left School in 1998 to pursue a career in Brickwork. He enrolled at West Nottinghamshire College where he was lucky enough to get an apprenticeship and went on to gain NVQ's Level 1,2 and 3 in Brickwork, whilst attaining an award for outstanding brickwork along the way.

After achieving his qualifications, Jay stayed with his employer (house building) from his apprenticeship to gain valuable experience. Three years later, he decided to venture out and form a partnership with a fellow student from West Notts College. In 2007, Jay set up his own building company and specialised in extensions.

During this time, Jay’s dream job (teaching) became available at West Nottinghamshire College. He started as a sessional teaching and gained part of his teaching qualifications until he was headhunted to work at a local secondary school delivering brickwork to post 16 students. After 14 years, Jay has decided to return and end his vocational teaching career back where it all began.
