Biography
Paula was a student at West Nottinghamshire College in the late 90s when she studied an HND in Business Administration. After this, she spent many years in employment where she worked in differing job roles from team leader at a multi-national company to holiday representative in Europe. Paula returned to study and completed a diploma in creative writing in 2009. Since then she has written a successful blog, had work published in books and journals, and undertaken copywriting for local companies. Paula is also a qualified dance teacher outside of college, which gives her a lot of transferable skills in partnership, teamwork and communication, which she can utilise with learners.
Paula is the department's learner development coach. She works closely with students individually and in class . Paula set SMART targets, works on action plans, and delivers tutorial topics. She is approachable and friendly and students readily ask her for advice and assistance.
Paula is always happy to help students refine their CVs and UCAS applications and she will proofread the work to check for quality and offer sessions on referencing, self-editing, and interview preparation.
Currently, Paula has involvement in organising educational trips and visits, inviting motivational speakers into the college, and creating valuable employability events that set students up for a future in digital technologies.
