Biography
Lucy is a part-time Art and Design Technician at West Nottinghamshire College. Her artistic practise investigates, a multitude of materials, often found, or foraged from her daily environments. Painting, weaving, carving and sculpting biomorphic forms through a mindful and intuitive process. Interacting with her local and rural environments, she explores themes of what it means to be at home in the world to question her own connection to nature.
Her previous A level studies in Geology and Buddhist Philosophy underpin her deep appreciation and fascination with the natural world, inspiring her ongoing sustainable process-led artistic practice. Most recently Lucy collects natural materials to later grind and mull into earth pigment inks and watercolours, to print/paint on handmade paper. Her experimental approach enables her to engage and work with her materials, to learn about their possibilities, boundaries and properties.
Lucy studied Art and Design Foundation Diploma at Manchester Metropolitan University and achieved a 1st Degree in BA(Hons) Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University. Currently, she volunteers at Surface Gallery as their Arts Engagement Coordinator, and is a member of Connecting Notts, alongside developing her practice into a professional artistic career, exploring opportunities to host creative wellbeing workshops with the local community.
