Biography
After nearly two decades in secondary education, Lisa felt it was time for a new challenge. Recently, she made the transition to further education, a move that has allowed her to deepen her role as a tutor on the Engage programme, where the students are focused on adapting to college life, after home schooling or time away from secondary school. This is a specialist creative arts course for a small group of learners with identified needs to become confident in a classroom environment, who can then later progress onto higher level college courses.
In this new setting, Lisa has had the opportunity to teach students who share a genuine passion for the arts & crafts. Whether it’s teaching technical specialisms including embroidery and weaving, or painting and drawing, Lisa encourages students to explore the broader context of arts history and sustainability. Lisa strives to show students that art & textiles have endless potential, to tell stories and make an impact.
As a textiles specialist, Lisa also teaches other learners across the wider Art and Design department at levels 1,2 & 3 and has been an asset to the department.
