You will provide support, mentoring and coaching for all designated students including those who may be at risk due to a number of factors including: under performance, poor attendance and behaviour, lack of motivation or other personal barriers to their learning and progress towards their chosen career.

You will work with a variety of learners to provide an employability and study skills programme which will include the development of the learners’ academic, personal and social development, and support their progression planning via the development of the learners’ employability skills. You will monitor the learners’ progress on their Study Programme and conduct regular one to one meetings and interventions to ensure all learners are achieving their aspirational targets. 

You will intervene on a range of issues which may include punctuality, attendance, behaviour, self-management, time management, study skills across the whole department as agreed by the needs of learners and teams.  You will liaise closely with the head of department, their teams and other specialist services and areas both internally and externally to identify and support ‘at risk’ learners in a range of learning settings.

You will have a good understanding of the curriculum areas, learners and their learning and pastoral support needs in order to assist in the identifying the needs of students to ensure appropriate support is put into place.

You must have proven experience of working with young people and ideally in a supportive and mentoring role and to have worked in a college/school/youth environment.

You will be involved in the delivery of appropriate employability and study skills sessions and work closely with the teams and have an involvement with organising and taking part in enrichment and wider learning activities.

You will demonstrate energy, passion and enthusiasm for making a difference and have the proven ability to engage, motivate and support young people. 

It is essential that the person appointed has the ability to build positive relationships, displaying excellent communication and organisational skills.
