Mansfield Museum is currently playing host to two art exhibitions drawing on the work of former students from West Nottinghamshire College.
Life Drawing and 15 Years both showcase the talents of local artists.
15 Years On showcases the work of former creative arts students Jonathan Annabel and Emma Gladwin.
Jonathan and Emma, now in their 30s, put on their first ever exhibition at Mansfield Museum in 1995 and they are returning after showcasing their work at 200 exhibitions across the world.
Emma is a ceramics artist, while Jonathan works on canvas, producing big, bold paintings in bright, striking colours.
The exhibition is a chance to see work by two of Nottinghamshire’s most prominent contemporary artists and runs until Thursday 4 February.
The second exhibition, Life Drawing, runs until Saturday 20 February. The exhibition includes a wide selection of work from 13 artists.
Councillor Kate Allsop, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration at Mansfield District Council, commented: “I am delighted that our museum is playing host to exhibitions by some of our most prominent local artists.
“It is particularly good news that Jonathan Annabel and Emma Gladwin are returning 15 years after mounting their first ever exhibition at Mansfield Museum.
“This is a marvellous opportunity for residents and visitors to come along and see this work for themselves, I would urge anyone to do so.”
Christine Denyer, the college's curriculum manager for general art and design, who taught Jonathan and Emma said: “They were both always very active as artists and I am very proud of their achievements.”
Steve McAlone, associate director of learning for creative arts, added: “It’s always a great pleasure to hear how well our ex-students are doing in their chosen career.
“Staff in the school of creative arts at West Nottinghamshire College remember both Emma and Jonathan with great fondness and it is with a sense of pride that I wish them the very best with their exhibition.
“It is really great to hear success stories of our past students and returning to Mansfield with their exhibition I’m sure will be an inspiration to other new and emerging artists”.
The Museum is open Monday to Saturday, from 10am-5pm. Admission is free.
