Servicing and Mechatronics - Level 2

Overview

This course covers a range of topics including learning about programmable logic controllers and how they are used in engineering. You will learn hands on maintenance techniques and develop skills and knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. The course will develop your understanding of CAD through the creation of 3D models and technical drawings. This course will teach you more advanced skills, knowledge and behaviours required for successful progression into an apprenticeship standard or the T Level pathway of your choice, relating to engineering.

Entry requirements

  • Grade 3 in English language and maths.
  • Plus, an Initial assessment and aptitude test/or completion of the Level 1 Multi-skills course.
  • If you have trade experience, a basic aptitude test will be required.

Study programmes - essential skills for employment

As an entry requirement on some of our courses, you will need a GCSE in both English and maths with at least a grade 4/C (please see entry requirements above).

If this isn’t displayed under the entry requirements and you don’t currently have a GCSE in both English and maths at grade 4/C or above before joining us, you will then study English and maths as part of your programme with the aim of achieving a qualification with at least a grade 4/C. This is to help improve your chances of employment once you leave us.

In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, all students aged 19 and under and studying a full-time course with us will take part in our study programmes.

How will I be assessed?

During this programme, you will complete three mandatory units and four optional units to obtain the full diploma qualification.
