Plumbing BPEC Water Regulations
Overview
This learning package has been developed by BPEC to help plumbers update their knowledge of this important legislation that is used to control the installation and use of water supply systems.
This is aimed primarily at practising plumbers who already have a knowledge of hot and cold water systems or to water inspectors and anyone who is involved with the installation, design or specification of water systems or with buildings containing water systems. It will also be of benefit to those learners with limited previous knowledge.
Entry requirements
Either a formal craft qualification e.g. national Vocational Qualification Level 2 in heating engineering or plumbing OR to be able to declare that you have relevant experience from the water industry.
How long is the course?
One day.
How will I be assessed?
This consists of an open book assessment that contains a blend of multiple choice and open response questions. There are two sections in the new assessment:
- Section A contains 30 general questions about the Water Regulations
- Section B contains 10 questions specifically on backflow.
Success rates
100% since commencement in early 2000.

- Application for Approved Plumber status
- Go on to the list of Approved Contractors with Water Companies
