Introduction to Working in Adult Social Care

Overview

This course will develop learners' basic knowledge of the adult social care sector. The course will be beneficial to those who wish to explore job roles in adult social care before finding work in the sector.

Teaching basic skills, the topics covered include:

  • Infection prevention and control
  • Moving and handling people safely
  • Recognising signs of abuse
  • Creating a CV and preparing for an interview

  • This course is currently free for adults aged 23 and over, no matter what your current employment or benefits status is.

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements, however, learners should have a basic understanding of literacy and numeracy.


How long is the course?

  • This course will run for 3 weeks (1 day per week)
  • The total time to complete the course is 15 hours.
  • This course requires 15 hours of guided learning, these hours are made up of all contact time, guidance or supervision of a tutor. Learners are expected to study and do aspects of their assessment in their own time.

How will I be assessed?

  • In class assessments of understanding
  • Quizzes
  • Practical activities

What can I progress onto?

  • Level 2 Diploma in Care
  • Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care
  • Level 2 or 3 Certificate for Working in the Health Sector
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health Care Support
  • Level 2 or 3 Diplomas in Healthcare Support Services
  • Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills.
