Introduction to Welding
Overview
Do you have an interest in welding? If the answer is yes, then this is the course for you.
The course is designed to give you an introduction to different welding techniques and processes, you will receive hands on tuition on MIG, TIG and MMA welding as well as gas welding and braising. This will take place in our state of the art welding workshops and will be delivered by our friendly staff who will be there to support you every step of the way.

Costs
*Anyone who is unemployed and in receipt of a qualifying means-tested benefit, or who is employed and earning less than £20,319, will get the course for free.
What will I study?
- You will learn how to check and set up different welding equipment
- You will be taught how to do a number of welding and fabrication techniques including MIG welding, TIG welding, MMA welding processes, gas cutting and plasma cutting.
- You will learn how to grind and check your welds.
Tutors will be on hand throughout the course to guide you and answer any questions you may have.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course just an interest to attend and learn about Fabrication and Welding
How long is the course?
The course is held on a Thursday for 2 hours per week, from 5.45-8pm for 6 weeks.
How will I be assessed?
There are no formal assessments on this course. However, the teacher will guide and support you in how best to perform each activity
What does the course lead to?
The course will provide you with some of the skills and knowledge that will help you to make an informed decision on your future progress. You will be able to discuss your next steps with your tutors.
What can I progress onto?
You can go on to study the Level 1 Award in Welding.
