A one-year course specifically designed to identify and develop the leadership potential in each learner – with the focus on joining the Armed Forces (Army, Royal Air Force, Navy, Royal Marines).
This is a rich and wide-ranging programme, specifically produced to develop the many different qualities required of leaders in the Uniformed Protective Services.
During the programme you will also receive the opportunity to visit aspects of each of those services, further developing your understanding of what it takes to join the Uniformed Protective Services. You will also receive specific support on how to prepare for each service’s selection process.
This programme demands commitment, high expectations, and high performance. However, upon completion of the programme, you will have developed the required values, knowledge, and skillset allowing you to be in the best position possible to make your application to the service of your choice.

What will I study?

- Carry out map reading and navigation across open country
- The influence of UK government, international organisations, and the media on the uniformed services
- Emergency planning and response in the uniformed services
- Skills for land-based outdoor and adventurous activities
- Skills for water-based outdoor and adventurous activities.
Entry requirements
This course is only available to 16-18 year olds.
- GCSE English and Maths grade 4-9
- Fitness assessment
- Interview
If you are a young person who is not currently studying a traditional GCSE programme, we will consider alternative qualifications such as functional skills and vocational qualifications.

Study programmes - essential skills for employment
If you're a student between the ages of 16 and 18 (or 19 to 25 with an EHC Plan) we want to make sure you have the best possible chances of landing an awesome job once you finish college.
Students who haven't achieved a grade 4/C in GCSE maths or English to continue studying these subjects while you're here with us. By doing so, you'll be building a strong foundation of skills that will significantly boost your employability in the future.
Think of it as a chance to supercharge your knowledge and abilities. You'll be equipped with the tools necessary to tackle the world beyond college with confidence. Plus, we'll be right here to support you every step of the way.
In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, all students aged 19 and under and studying a full-time course with us will take part in our study programmes.
