Technical Diploma in Beauty Therapy (Intermediate) - Level 2
Overview
This qualification is based on the national occupational standards for beauty therapy and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty therapist.
Throughout this qualification, learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety. They will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to consult with clients whilst providing a range of beauty treatments including facial treatments and make-up applications.
In parallel, learners will develop their communication and customer service skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem-solving, team working and research skills will also be developed.
Please note - your timetable will include one late evening per week.
If you plan to use the college bus service, please be aware that this does not currently operate in the evenings, therefore you would have to make your own travel arrangements home.

Entry requirements
- Grade 4 in English and grade 3 in maths.
Study programmes - essential skills for employment
As an entry requirement on some of our courses, you will need a GCSE in both English and maths with at least a grade 4/C (please see entry requirements above).
If this isn’t displayed under the entry requirements and you don’t currently have a GCSE in both English and maths at grade 4/C or above before joining us, you will then study English and maths as part of your programme with the aim of achieving a qualification with at least a grade 4/C. This is to help improve your chances of employment once you leave us.
In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, all students aged 19 and under and studying a full-time course with us will take part in our study programmes.
How long is the course?
1 year.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed via a mix of externally set, internally graded practical assessments, as well as externally marked exams, and externally set, internally graded synoptic assessment.
What else can I do?
Work experience is required at a salon or spa while studying Beauty Therapy Level 2.
