Animal Care One Day Course – Pet First Aid - Level 1
Overview
This one-day course is designed to provide adults aged over 19 with the knowledge and skills necessary to handle a variety of first aid situations that may arise with their pets.
You will explore the uses of common first aid equipment, learn to recognise common signs of illness or injury in pets, and understand how to approach and treat a range of first aid situations, including but not limited to:
- Prevention of shock
- Giving CPR when needed
- Treating burns
- Treating and bandaging wounds
Through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice, you will gain a practical experience in pet first aid. You will also learn how to provide basic care for your pets during an emergency.
By the end of the day, you will have the knowledge and confidence to handle a variety of first aid situations with your pets.

*Learners must be aged 19 or over on 31 August 2024 to attend our adult courses. Tuition fees are waived on many of our courses if you live in eligible postcodes, earn below £25,000 per year, are unemployed or economically inactive and receive benefits, or have low take-home pay with benefits. Entry requirements
- No prior qualifications are required to attend this course.
- Attendees must be aged 19 or over and have a genuine interest in animal care.
How long is the course?
- 5 hours from 9.30am-2.30pm.
How will I be assessed?
- This is a non-accredited course and therefore there is no formal assessment.
- You will be expected to actively participate in the practical sessions and engage in class discussions.
