AAT Business Skills - Level 1
Overview
This Level 1 qualification covers a range of skills and relevant supporting knowledge to help prepare students for applying numbers in business and working in a business environment.
It will give you an understanding of:
- how different organisations operate
- how to contribute effectively in the workplace
- how businesses process sales and purchases, and the documents and procedures associated with this.
You will also be equipped with the basic numerical skills needed in the workplace, such as decimals, percentages and fractions, and applying proportions and ratios.
This course will give you a solid grounding before moving on to the Level 2 qualifications.
An AAT qualification offers you a professional status that reflects the skills you’ve worked so hard to gain.

Cost
£450
The course fee can either be paid in full or in four instalments.
If you wish to pay in instalments, you will be required to pay 25% (£112.50) of the total fee on the day of enrolment and a Direct Debit mandate would then need to be completed to enable the college to collect a further three payments of £112.50 monthly. The payments will be taken on the date you choose on the Direct Debit mandate form.

This does not include the price of your AAT membership which has to be paid directly to AAT - this currently costs £45.

What will I study?
Working in the business environment
- Develop skills for the workplace

- Apply business procedures to sales and purchases.
Using numbers in business
- Perform simple business calculations
- Calculate decimals, fractions, percentages, proportions and ratios
- Use tools and techniques to present numerical data.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, you will need basic working maths knowledge and be able to communicate in a classroom environment.
This course is for learners aged 19+ only. If you are aged 16-18 and wishing to pursue a career in accounting, please consider the Accounting and Business - Level 2/3 course or an apprenticeship.
How long is the course?
6 weeks - one day a week.
How will I be assessed?
An external exam on week six of the course.
All classes are mandatory and failing to attend a class will prevent you from being entered into the exam.
What does the course lead to?
AAT qualifications are recognised by employers as practical and technical qualifications that prepare students for the world of work and for working specifically in accountancy and finance roles.
