Students put on a fine fundraising fayre

Posted: 09 March 2017

A festival of food and fundraising went down a storm at West Nottinghamshire College this week, thanks to enterprising tourism and event management students.

The International Food and Drink Festival on Monday (6 March) saw local food producers and companies selling their wares to visitors at the college’s Refined fine dining restaurant, while raising almost £320 for Framework – the homeless charity and housing association.

Hayley Power, one of the students on the Foundation Degree in Tourism and Event Management, who organised the event, said: “We were so delighted with seeing over 100 people who all gave generously to the fundraising and enjoyed purchasing some of the lovely food.

“We have all said that another event of this kind would be great to hold at the college again. Thanks have to go to all our stallholders for making a discretionary donation to support Framework.”

Guest companies included The Bombay Sweets Centre, The Little Sugar Shack, AmyLou Bakehouse, The School of Artisan Food, Hops in a Bottle and an independent Thai food company called Mo.
