What to expect

Our college open days are designed for those aged 16+ who are looking to take their education further. We offer a number of opportunities from A Levels, to BTECs and apprenticeships, and this is your chance to see what's on offer, get a first glimpse of college life - and even apply on the day! You'll be able to find out everything from course information, to facts about finance, to help you make the right decision for you. 

  • Meet our tutors – they’re passionate about the subjects they teach and are happy to answer your questions!
  • Find your feet – open evenings are a great chance to get to know your bearings and take a good look around.
  • Apply on the day – our friendly staff are on-hand to help you fill out any tricky forms and answer questions.
  • Helps you to make a decision – Undecided about what you’d like to do next? Our careers team are available to speak to as well as tutors and/or current students.
  • Share the experience – Bring along family and friends so they too can get an idea of what life is like at West Notts!

Apprenticeships

Want to know more about apprenticeships?

An apprenticeship is essentially a real job – as an apprentice you will gain important work experience, receive hands-on training and work towards nationally-recognised qualifications, all whilst earning a weekly wage!

Our subsidiary company, Vision Apprentices, will be on hand to tell you all about apprenticeships and the benefits of being an apprentice and the current vacancies available. Employers will be there for you to talk to directly and there will be a selection of experts available offering advice and guidance.

Vision Apprentices specialise in a number of industry sectors including:

Access to Higher Education

If you are over 18-years-old, and wanting to progress to university, our Level 3 Access to HE courses are designed to help you unlock new career prospects, and advance onto a university-level course once completed. On the day, our Access to HE tutors will be available to answer any questions you may have and guide you through your options.

If you’re aged over 19 you may even be eligible to apply for the Advanced Learner Loan to help pay for your tuition fees for an Access course. You’ll be able to find out more on the day. 

Higher Education

Did you know we offer university-level courses at college?

With the opening of our new Vision University Centre, we’re offering more university-level courses to more students than ever before – all of which are flexible and can easily be fitted around other commitments. HE programmes on offer include HNCs, HNDs, foundation degrees and full honours degrees. Alongside this, students can choose to study professional courses in accounting, marketing, HR and purchasing and supply, or attend a number of masterclasses.

The new centre provides students with state-of-the-art facilities including modern learning spaces, IT suites, a learning resource centre, a 100-seat lecture theatre and science laboratories. Join us to find out more about Higher Education and our validating universities.

The Derby Road campus is in close proximity to Mansfield train station. Bus and taxi services are also available. There is ample parking on-site.

When you arrive

Make your way to the main reception or ground floor entrance where you will be greeted by our friendly staff in red t-shirts who will provide you with an open day guide and our latest course guide that contains plenty of useful information. The team will be around throughout the event should you need further assistance.
