Junior Project Engineer

This role will primarily focus on supporting day to day project activities on a Material Handling Systems (MHS) Implementation project, working with Mechanical, Electrical and Controls engineering professionals.

The position will initially be based (for approx. 12 months) at a client site near Mansfield. Involvement in future projects may require national and international travel.

Key Responsibilities, with guidance provided, include:

Project Management

establishing & monitoring project tasks/timelines
monitoring project budget
preparing & presenting reports defining progress, problems and solutions
engineering reviews and update with senior project stakeholders

Site Management

managing contractors’ activities in line with project schedule
assisting with completing & maintaining records of site works
ensuring Health and Safety regulations compliance
coordinating deliveries from suppliers and ensuring equipment is stored correctly

Stakeholder Co-ordination

monitoring & reporting on project progress to all stakeholders
coordinating project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs

Project Development

assisting with the development of project scope and deliverables to meet the Client’s evolving needs
applying understanding of engineering and supply chain concepts as well as trends in solution design & implementation

Education, Knowledge and Experience required:

An engineering HND (discipline examples: Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation Control)
Good understanding of Microsoft Office software
Understanding and practical application of engineering drawings (AutoCAD)
Industrial experience in the form of a work placement is desirable, but not essential
Basic understanding of project management (including methodology, terms and budgeting)


Good problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills (oral & written) with the ability to liaise confidently with stakeholders in a high-pressure environment
Good organisational skills with the ability to plan own work in conjunction with all stakeholders
Good levels of attention to detail
Demonstrable self-motivation with the ability to work independently

Annual Salary & Benefits: circa £23 k p.a., with remuneration offered dependent on experience and educational level. 22 days paid annual holiday plus 3 days between Christmas and New Year plus Bank Holiday entitlement.
