The NTU Work Inspiration Scheme offers students high quality, meaningful work experience placements.

Please note these placements are open to all students in and around Nottinghamshire which means they are very competitive so please apply as soon as possible with a selection of available dates that you would be able to attend

 

Below are the available work placement opportunities available at Nottingham Trent University for Travel and Tourism

 

Nottingham Language Centre, Events Assistant (City Campus)

The placement will involve supporting a training event for secondary school teachers of Languages. There will be the opportunity for some hands on experience, such as welcoming and registering delegates and directing them to the correct rooms throughout the day, distributing welcome packs, fielding any enquiries etc. You will also gain experience of how training courses and events are delivered and coordinated within a large organisation. There will also be some administration work during the day such as updating delegate mailing lists etc.

Please note: can only offer a one day placement, not a full week.

 

SCCO Administration and Events Assistant

Nottingham Trent University offers a range of programmes for schools and colleges, to help high achieving pupils from disadvantaged background access and succeed at university. Schools, Colleges and Community Outreach (SCCO) coordinate these programmes. During a placement with SCCO, you will be given an overview of all the different teams within the departments, and will gain experience working in a busy and dynamic environment. You will chose from one of the specific functional areas and will spend the majority of time based within that team.

SCCO Administration and Events Assistant – Outreach & Schools Liaison (City Campus)

This team specialises in hands on events and activities designed help young people aged 9 to 18 years find out about University and Higher Education. You will be involved in supporting the running of our fast paces and varied outreach events and activities, either on campus, or out in local schools/colleges with our NTU Student Ambassadors. Previous work experience students have taken part in activities such as project planning, designing activity resources and event presentation and delivery – ideal for anyone thinking about a career in the education sector, events management or wanting to develop their organisation and communication skills.

SCCO Administration and Events Assistant – Volunteering & Students in Classrooms (City Campus)

As part of its work in the local community, the department offers volunteering initiatives for both staff & students – including opportunities to volunteer abroad. Tasks will include researching and supporting student led voluntary projects, meeting with Charity and Community organisations and helping plan and run volunteer events. The Students in Classroom team provide you with the opportunity to assist with tasks such as project/event planning and social media. Ideal for anyone thinking about a career in the voluntary sector, teaching, events/project management or wanting to develop their organisation and communication skills.

Please note - Placements are open to all students at Vision West Nottinghamshire College, this may result into the placement being allocated; we do advise all students interested in the placement to speak with the employer in the first instance to check that the placement is still available.

Once your work placement has been confirmed, and start & end dates have been agreed with your employer. Please follow the steps below in order to process you work placement application.

Step 1 - Complete the work placement application form on the work placement connect app, or complete a self-placement form, the form can be found here. This will advise the work placement team you have a confirmed work placement.

Step 2 - The work placement team will seek authorisation confirmation from your tutor, and then the health and safety documentation will be completed for you to start your placement.

Step 3 - The work placement team will then send you, your tutor and the employer an email to confirm your work placement is ‘ Ready to Go’. You MUST NOT START YOUR WORK PLACEMENT, until you have received the confirmation email.

A parental consent form must also be signed and passed to your tutor before you go on placement.

We encourage you to secure your work placement as soon as possible. The deadline to have a placement agreed is Friday 14th Dec 2018.
