Work Placement - Nottingham Trent University (Public Services)

Job description

The NTU Work Inspiration Scheme offers students high quality, meaningful work experience placements.

Please note these placements are open to all students in and around Nottinghamshire which means they are very competitive so please apply as soon as possible with a selection of available dates that you would be able to attend


Below are the available work placement opportunities available at Nottingham Trent University for Public Services


Retail Operations (City Campus)

You will work within the retail team, gaining knowledge and experience within the range of retail outlets within Nottingham Trent University. With an emphasis on customer service skills, there will be opportunities to work with their till system and a variety of food and drink products. The placement will also allow insight into the importance of health and safety, food safety and hygiene procedures.


Information Assistant (Libraries) (City & Clifton Campus)

You will receive an overview of the work of an academic library. There will be an opportunity to gain experience in customer service, graphics, communications and information technology and to talk to senior staff about their role within Libraries and Learning Resources.


Sports Facilities Assistant (Clifton Campus)

During a placement with the Sport and Lifestyle Department you can expect to gain experience of working in the sports facilities at the Clifton Campus, assisting with bookings and events, setting-up of sports equipment and managing the reception point. You will also shadow the duty managers and the sports development office and have an opportunity to learn more about how the British Universities Colleges Sports (BUCS) fixtures work. There may also be an opportunity to spend some time at the City sports facilities.

Ensure you have agreed start & end dates with your employer before completing your application following the steps below.

Step 1 - Complete the work placement application form or the placement app (connect – placement manager).

Step 2 - We will check you meet the college's employability standards and then complete the Health and Safety Risk Assessment.

Step 3 - Once this check is approved we will send you, your progress tutor, and the employer an email to confirm your work placement is ‘ Ready to Go’. You MUST NOT START YOUR WORK PLACEMENT, until you have received the confirmation email.

We encourage you to secure your work placement as soon as possible. The deadline to have a placement agreed is 20th Dec 2019.
