Introduction to History

Overview

Have you always had an interest in ancient history? Want to discover the facts about major world events such as the Second World War, how America got its civil rights or do want to put yourself in the shoes of someone from Medieval or Tudor times?

If so, this course is right up your timeline.

The Introduction to History is a six-week programme, designed to help you gain an understanding of the main points of history through time. It will really stretch your imagination and is ideal for those with a general interest in history, or those who would like to read history at university.

Costs

  • This course is free if you are 19+ and unemployed and receiving relevant benefits, or earning less than £18,525 per year.
  • If you are 19+ and not receiving benefits the course will cost £42.00 for the full six weeks, or £7.00 per session.

Each week you will focus on a new topic, including:

  • What did the Romans do for us? (Week 1)
  • Murder in the Middle Ages (Week 2)
  • Was Anne Boleyn really that bad? (Week 3)
  • Why are some lives worth more than others? (Week 4)
  • What exactly is a dictatorship?  (Week 5)
  • What are civil rights? (Week 6)
