Information and Creative Technology (Intermediate) - Level 2

Overview

This computer science course will introduce you to the world of computing and give you various computing skills to progress to higher-level study in many areas including creative computing, software development and technical support and networking, providing a progression route onto a more advanced work-related qualification.

You will develop a range of up-to-date practical skills, such as basic programming, web design and PC repair.

Together, these skills will support you in pursuing a career such as a programmer, software developer, web developer, IT business analyst and systems designer.

On successful completion of the course students will be awarded the Extended Certificate in Information and Creative Technology - Level 2

Start dates and fees

You will be given access to all the software and hardware that you will need to complete this course, however we do suggest that you purchase a box file and several plastic document wallets to help you store and present your work.

A data stick, although not essential, is also recommended.

Entry requirements

  • A minimum of four GCSEs, including English and maths at grade 3.    

If you are a young person who is not currently studying a traditional GCSE programme, we will consider alternative qualifications such as functional skills and vocational qualifications.

Study programmes - essential skills for employment

As an entry requirement on some of our courses, you will need a GCSE in both English and maths with at least a grade 4/C (please see entry requirements above).

If this isn’t displayed under the entry requirements and you don’t currently have a GCSE in both English and maths at grade 4/C or above before joining us, you will then study English and maths as part of your programme with the aim of achieving a qualification with at least a grade 4/C. This is to help improve your chances of employment once you leave us.

In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, all students aged 19 and under and studying a full-time course with us will take part in our study programmes.
