Esports (Advanced) - Level 3
Overview
As Esports has developed it has created thousands of new jobs across the world, and it’s an industry that is still rapidly expanding. Globally, the industry is expected to be worth $1.9billion by 2023.
With competitions like the League of Legends World Championship offering substantial prize money, being a player is an attractive option, but not the only career choice. Like any sports team, wrap-around care is needed; from coaches and sports psychologists, the industry needs designers and games creators, broadcast crews, promoters, sales, marketing and PR teams to name but a few.
Helping you to pursue a variety of Esports-related careers, this two-year course provides the opportunity to build skills in leadership, strategic thinking, analysis, problem solving, dexterity and improving processing and reaction times and most importantly teamwork and communication; essential skills for any job.
Practical skill development will include project management, event planning and budgeting, character and environment design and asset creation, graphics, branding and typography, broadcasting for TV and online and developing business development plans.
Besides studying on this fascinating course, you will also have the chance to compete in national or regional tournaments as part of a college team.

Entry requirements
- Four GCSEs at grade 4-9 including English Language and Maths.
OR
- Successful competion of a relevant Level 2 course at Merit level plus GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 4-9.
You will also need to be a keen Esports player.
If you are not studying a traditional GCSE programme, we accept alternative qualifications like Functional Skills and vocational courses. If you are not planning on sitting GCSE exams, we can also support you with completing an English Language and Maths assessment. Please contact our admissions team for further details:

If you don't meet the listed entry requirements, you may still be accepted with relevant experience, a strong portfolio, and a commitment to the subject.
Study programmes - essential skills for employment
If you're a student between the ages of 16 and 18 (or 19 to 25 with an EHC Plan) we want to make sure you have the best possible chances of landing an awesome job once you finish college.
Students who haven't achieved a grade 4/C in GCSE maths or English to continue studying these subjects while you're here with us. By doing so, you'll be building a strong foundation of skills that will significantly boost your employability in the future.
Think of it as a chance to supercharge your knowledge and abilities. You'll be equipped with the tools necessary to tackle the world beyond college with confidence. Plus, we'll be right here to support you every step of the way.
In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, all students aged 19 and under and studying a full-time course with us will take part in our study programmes.
How long is the course?
One to two years.
Following successful completion of year 1 you may then progress to a second year of study on the Extended Diploma.
- Year 1 - Foundation Diploma (equivalent to 1.5 A Levels on completion of one year)
- Year 2 - Extended Diploma (equivalent to 3 A Levels on completion of the two years)
How will I be assessed?
Assessment takes place through controlled assignments set by tutors and the examining board which are externally verified.
You will take part in team and solo activity, undertake projects and practical workshops based on Esports scenarios.
Written coursework to support your practical work may include research and reports.
