During the course you will learn to:

  • Draft financial statements
  • Draft budgets
  • Measure financial performance
  • Evaluate accounting systems
  • Professional ethics in accounting and finance
  • Calculate personal tax
  • Calculate business tax

Start dates and fees

If you are between the age of 16 and 18 the apprenticeship is free of charge. If you are 19 and above your employer must pay a one off fee.

During your apprenticeship your employer is obliged to pay you a wage at the minimum rate for an apprentice.

 

On top of the course fees, you will also be required to join the AAT professional body, which may incur a charge.

What will I study?

As part of your advanced apprenticeship you will cover the following: Level 4 Diploma in Accounting.


Entry requirements

You will need to have already achieved AAT Level 3, either the NVQ 3 or the Level 3 diploma. 

You should already be employed in an accountancy environment.


Study programmes - essential skills for employment

If you're a student between the ages of 16 and 18 (or 19 to 25 with an EHC Plan) we want to make sure you have the best possible chances of landing an awesome job once you finish college.

Students who haven't achieved a grade 4/C in GCSE maths or English to continue studying these subjects while you're here with us. By doing so, you'll be building a strong foundation of skills that will significantly boost your employability in the future.

Think of it as a chance to supercharge your knowledge and abilities. You'll be equipped with the tools necessary to tackle the world beyond college with confidence. Plus, we'll be right here to support you every step of the way.

In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, all students aged 19 and under and studying a full-time course with us will take part in our study programmes.


How long is the course?

Depending on the individual the course normally lasts one year to eighteen months.


How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed by project and computer based formal tests.

Underpinning knowledge will also be delivered on day release.


What does the course lead to?

Upon successful completion of the course you'll have enhanced opportunities in the following job roles: accounts assistant, management accountant, semi-senior in accounting practice or finance assistant.


What can I progress onto?

The professional accountancy qualifications.
