A very merry day at salon’s festive fundraiser

Posted: 13 December 2019

There was plenty of merriment, pampering and prize-winning today (13 December) at West Nottinghamshire College’s Revive salon, as staff and students held their Christmas charity fundraising day.

Over £380 was raised through ticket sales and raffle entries for Cancer Research UK. Guests paid a £5 fee to enjoy either blow-dried hair styles, file and polish or a whole new make-up look.

Principal Andrew Cropley drew the raffle which had more than 20 prizes kindly donated by companies such as Specsavers, Boots, Mansfield Town Football Club and Refined restaurant.

Students were on-hand to serve mince pies, chocolate Yule log and tea and coffee to guests enjoying the festive day.

Friends Julia Kingston and Naomi Davy enjoyed having their hair curled in the salon. Julia said: “We come to Revive quite often for treatments and some relaxing time in the spa – and sometimes a meal in the restaurant.

“It’s really lovely here and such great value for money. Today has been super special and everyone’s made such an effort to make it feel festive.”

Salon co-ordinator Carly Capill said: “It’s been an amazing day and our students have really worked hard to pull together such a great event. Our clients as well as staff have supported us so kindly. The place has been full to bursting and had a great atmosphere.

“Thank you to all who donated to the prize raffle, we had a wonderful response from companies and individuals alike.”
