Armistice Day honoured by hundreds at West Nottinghamshire College

Posted: 11 November 2019

Thanks go to the hundreds of staff and students who attended the Armistice Day service today (11 November) at West Nottinghamshire College’s Derby Road campus.

Principal and chief executive Andrew Cropley opened the ceremony, welcoming everyone to the service and thanking them for their support in remembering those who fought and fell in the First and Second World Wars and all other conflicts.

Level 3 Public Services students Georgia Geere and Bailey Simmons read poems Forgotten Voices by The Hale Family and In Flanders Fields respectively.

Attendees listened to the bugle playing of The Last Post and watched some of yesterday’s footage from the Remembrance Parade at The Cenotaph in London, on the BBC, before honouring the two minutes’ silence.
