Work Experience Placements at Nottingham Trent University

Below are some examples of the types of placement areas that they are likely to offer:

 

Catering – Kitchen Assistant (City and Clifton Campus) – Nottingham

You will be actively involved in the production of food for students, staff, visitors and conference delegates.  They will be working in all sections of the kitchen to enhance skills and gain knowledge of the daily operation in a diverse and busy kitchen establishment, including health and safety, food safety and hygiene procedures.

*One Placement is available in June/July – Please suggest your date(s).*

 

Catering – Hospitality Assistant (City Campus) – Nottingham

You will gain experience in delivered catering service and Nottingham Conference Centre events. Enhancing skills in table and buffet service, drinks delivery and service, customer care, event preparation and set-up. This will include health and safety, food safety and hygiene procedures.

How to apply

Students who are not on NTU Progression will be eligible to apply from 30 October 2016 onwards, in the usual way.

To apply and receive an application form for these vacancies you must email the Nottingham Trent University's work experience co-ordinator to discuss whether suitable dates are available for you to complete your work placement. Please contact on workexperience@ntu.ac.uk 

Please note - Placements are open to all students at Vision West Nottinghamshire College, this may result into the placement being allocated; we do advise all students interested in the placement to speak with the employer in the first instance to check that the placement is still available.

Step 1 - Once you have a confirmed offer, in order to proceed with the work placement you will need to complete the work placement application form on Pro Portal, the form can be found under miscellaneous. (An accurate start and approximate end dates MUST be entered)

Step 2 - Your tutor will be asked to authorise your placement once you have fully completed your application form (remember to SAVE).

Step 3 - Once authorised, the work placement team will ensure the health and safety documentation for your placement is in place.

Step 4 - The work placement team will then send you, your tutor and the employer an email to confirm your work placement is ‘ Ready to Go’.

Step 5 – Collect a Progress Passport which you must complete on placement and ask your supervisor to sign off your hours and provide feedback on the last pages.

Step 6 – To check the status of your application, look at the note section at the bottom of your application form.

A parental consent form must also be signed and passed to your tutor before you go on placement.

We encourage you to secure your work placement as soon as possible. The deadline to have a placement agreed is Friday 8 Dec 2017.
