Work Placement - Ladybrook Community Centre - Computer Science

Ladybrook Enterprises Ltd prides itself on helping to develop and support our local community. The work they do through Ladybrook Community Centre provides the community of Ladybrook and the surrounding areas of Mansfield with opportunities to improve their lives. They actively work in partnership with other organisations and companies to offer a range of activities to support us to do this.

During your placement you will be:

  • Observing and assisting Staff Members with IT systems.
  • Maintaining the website
  • Transferring Data onto new system
  • Working on main reception, meeting and greeting visitors.
  • General housekeeping

This placement will require a commitment to a minimum of 6 hours a week, over a 3 month period. Placement hours will be between; 9:00am to 8:00pm. Please consider this before applying!

To apply for this great opportunity, please collect an application form from a member of the work placement team, Room 218 Derby Road. Once completed please send your application form to ladybrookcommunitycentre@btconnect.com, for the attention of Sharron Reynolds or Lian Nixon-Charter.

Please note - Placements are open to all students at Vision West Nottinghamshire College, this may result into the placement being allocated; we do advise all students interested in the placement to speak with the employer in the first instance to check that the placement is still available.

Step 1 - Once you have a confirmed offer, in order to proceed with the work placement you will need to complete the work placement application form on Pro Portal, the form can be found under miscellaneous. (An accurate start and approximate end dates MUST be entered)

Step 2 - Your tutor will be asked to authorise your placement once you have fully completed your application form (remember to SAVE).

Step 3 - Once authorised, the work placement team will ensure the health and safety documentation for your placement is in place.

Step 4 - The work placement team will then send you, your tutor and the employer an email to confirm your work placement is ‘ Ready to Go’.

Step 5 – Collect a Progress Passport which you must complete on placement and ask your supervisor to sign off your hours and provide feedback on the last pages.

Step 6 – To check the status of your application, look at the note section at the bottom of your application form.

A parental consent form must also be signed and passed to your tutor before you go on placement.

We encourage you to secure your work placement as soon as possible. The deadline to have a placement agreed is Friday 8 Dec 2017.
