Job description

Brierley Forest Park Visitor Centre offers refreshments, exhibitions and information. The forest is acclaimed as the largest urban community forest in the East Midlands, and has been given the Green Flag Award for 2015.

 

You will be required to work in a very busy visitors centre; assisting customers giving general direction around the centre, helping out in the cafe and deliver excellent customer service at all times.

How to apply

Please call in at the centre on a Thursday, Saturday and Sunday ONLY to apply for this position. You will need to ask for Lynn Morley who will greet you for an informal chat ( your interest in the placement and your availability) at Brierly Forest Visitors Centre, Skegby Road, Huthwaite, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, NG17 2PL

Please note - Placements are open to all students at Vision West Nottinghamshire College, this may result into the placement being allocated; we do advise all students interested in the placement to speak with the employer in the first instance to check that the placement is still available.

Step 1 - Once you have a confirmed offer, in order to proceed with the work placement you will need to complete the work placement application form on Pro Portal, the form can be found under miscellaneous. (An accurate start and approximate end dates MUST be entered)

Step 2 - Your tutor will be asked to authorise your placement once you have fully completed your application form (remember to SAVE).

Step 3 - Once authorised, the work placement team will ensure the health and safety documentation for your placement is in place.

Step 4 - The work placement team will then send you, your tutor and the employer an email to confirm your work placement is ‘ Ready to Go’.

Step 5 – Collect a Progress Passport which you must complete on placement and ask your supervisor to sign off your hours and provide feedback on the last pages.

Step 6 – To check the status of your application, look at the note section at the bottom of your application form.

A parental consent form must also be signed and passed to your tutor before you go on placement.

We encourage you to secure your work placement as soon as possible. The deadline to have a placement agreed is Friday 8 Dec 2017.
