Advice and support for learners of Vision West Nottinghamshire College who have visual impairment.

The specialist team of staff here at Vision West Nottinghamshire College provide support and advice to learners who are blind or partially sighted.

What kind of support do we offer?

  • Information and advice before you start your course on what is available and assistance with application and enrolment.
  • Individual assessment of learning requirements.
  • Specialist tuition.
  • Formatting of materials into Braille, large print or audio.
  • Provision of individualised study support.

Study support might include:

  • Information and advice before you start your course on what is available and assistance with application and enrolment.
  • Provision of individualised study support.
  • Specialist equipment or software such as screen readers and magnifiers.
  • Note-takers and readers
  • Support from a specialist Further Education teacher of the visually impaired
  • Adaptation of course materials into preferred format including large print, Braille and audio.
  • Sighted guiding and familiarisation training around the college campus.
  • Specialist IT support workers who incorporate IT training for software and keyboard skills for blind and partially-sighted.
  • Provision for guide dogs.

The team will support you throughout your course and can also provide advice and guidance on access to the wider curriculum.
