Advice and support to students of Vision West Nottinghamshire College who have particular needs related to emotional and behavioural difficulties.

The Emotional and/or Behavioural Difficulties/Mental Health and Well Being Support Team (EBD/MH) offers advice and support to students at West Nottinghamshire College who have particular needs related to emotional and behavioural difficulties and/or wellbeing issues. We are committed to ensuring your needs are addressed and met.

What are emotional and behavioural difficulties?

Emotional and/or behavioural difficulties can be classed as:

  • Any difficulty that may affect a person's confidence or social skills.
  • Any emotional distress or mental health condition
  • Any difficulty which may affect a person's language or communication skills
  • Any behavioural difficulty which may impact on learning or the learning of other people

What kinds of support can EBD/MH offer?

  • A team of experienced support assistants including two senior learning support assistants for mental health difficulties
  • Specialist support staff to work with you if you require it
  • Referrals to emergency counselling
  • Mental health and well being support sessions outside of classroom
  • Specialist training for staff on mental health and well being issues.
  • Links to other organisations that may be able to help.

Coming to college is an exciting time but it can also be stressful. We want you to feel able to discuss your emotional health and general mental wellbeing, and get the right support if and when you need it.

The support team can offer advice and guidance on any issue, whether you're feeling stressed about exams, experiencing panic attacks, or feeling low, depressed or anxious. We also offer support for students with more enduring mental health needs.
